Since fall, the paint companies have been revealing their colors of the year (COTY in industry-speak). The rollouts end with the highly anticapted Pantone Color of the Year in December. Each year has seen more and more rolling out colors of the year, and now there are almost as many celebrated colors as there are brands!

These “it” colors are the hues the paint companies believe we will see dominating in the upcoming year. In addition to the “colors of the year,” many brands release trending palettes to go with them. This year's color predictions so far are very differnt last year’s colors, which included many playful, vibrant hues like Dunn-Edwards’ Terra Rosa, and Pantone’s Viva Magenta. The 2024 lineup forecasts lean toward some softer colors, calming neutrals, moodier shades like olive and soft black, and coastal blues.

Pantone Color Institute's Peach Fuzz

A soft, pinkish-orange hue called “Peach Fuzz” is Pantone’s pick for the 2024 color of the year. PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a "velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches heart, mind, and body," according to the color institute. The more muted hue is meant to reflect the “need for some quiet, some peace, some respite.”

Sherwin Williams’ Upward

Sherwin Williams’ Upward is a breezy and blissful shade of blue. The paint company partnered with James Beard Award-winning French pastry chef Dominique Ansel to bring this tranquil hue to life: the chef created his first-ever vegan Cronut® inspired by Upward SW 6239,

The coastal-inspired gray-blue evokes peaceful, meditative spaces in both residential and commercial interiors. If you love this hue with grey undertones, Crossville Studios has several beautiful blues on the denim spectrum.
